Disability Week - Poster Competition

Children at Straffan National School were delighted to support Kildare Disability Week/International Day of Person’s with Disabilities, by completing a Poster Awareness Campaign and flying our Purple Flag. 

 

It was a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness in our school community and to further support our FRESH approach in school. The children focused on the theme of ‘Respect’, and this was evident in the posters that the children completed.

 

Nathaniel Sitek from Ms. Fagan’s 4th Class was the overall winner and his poster can be seen below. Well done to all of the children and to the Student Council for organising a fantastic initiative in our school.

Senior G.A.A.  Both our girls and boys senior teams were competing in Cumann na mBunscoil gaelic football since Easter. Both teams played three tight matches which ended today. The girls were very unfortunate to lose by 2 points in their last match against Scoil Choca Naofa while the boys lost by 2 after extra time. This double header will surely be core memories for the 6th class pupils involved. It is so great to see them giving their all in the Straffan NS jersey and we strongly encourage them to continue representing their future schools as well. Such great talent amongst the group.

Well done to the boys and girls who competed in the Cumann na mBunscol Cross Country races today in Ráthcoffey GAA ​All involved showed great fitness and determination, navigating a long course against strong competition. Representing the school at this level requires significant effort, and every runner should be proud of finishing their race. ​ Thanks to all involved in organising an event of this size.  ​
