Care School Assemblies - 6th Class

We were delighted to come together for our first school assembly of the year in September. It was hosted wonderfully by our 6th class students and was a special occasion as all children and staff gathered to celebrate the start of a new school year and reflect on the values that make our school community so strong. The 6th class did a fantastic job leading the assemblies with confidence and enthusiasm — setting a great example for everyone. The following recounts by Sophie, Brooke and Iida will give you even more information about our assembly.

On the 30th of September 2025 6th class prepared an assembly for the rest of the school. In preparation we practised our poems and songs for homework and in class. We did two poems and one song. The Irish poem was called Na Ceisteanna the english poem was called Oh the Places You’ll Go by Dr.Seuss. The song we sang was called Never Gonna Give You Up.

A few days before the assembly we started practising in the hall and we had to tidy up the stage so we would have space for everyone. On the day of the assembly we had DEAR time, our morning circle and went straight to the hall for the assembly. Once all the A classes were in the hall were sitting down, two girls went on the stage and welcomed everyone and said the theme of this assembly was caring.

We started with the poem oh the places you’ll go. After that we made our way to the stage for our Irish poem. Then some people held posters about being kind and Mrs. Colleran read out what F.R.E.S.H. means. Fair, respectful, engaged, safe and honest. When Mrs. Colleran was finished we sang our song and we had these microphones that lit up. I really enjoyed the assembly and I hope everyone did too!

Today , 30/9/25 we hosted an assembly for the younger classes for bí cinealta and and fresh. During the assembly we sang Never Going to Give You Up by Rick Astley and we also said 2 poems, “Oh the Places You’ll Go “ by Dr Suess as well as “ Na Ceisteanna “. 

During the preparation we had to clear the hall completely, and keep on revising our poem and song. We learnt our song almost immediately and the poems were easy to learn too.

On the day we had to perform 2 assemblies. One for class groups A and one held for class groups B. The assembly was held to help us remember our FRESH - School Behaviour Code  and Bí Cinealta. During the assembly we had to walk on stage. I was standing beside Olivia, I think our song went well. Everyone was clapping towards the end at the beat.  

After the first assembly we had yard then went straight to our second one, I had a disco microphone for that one! The assemblies overall went well in my opinion.

On the 30th of September 2025, we had our first school assembly of the year. For this assembly, 6th class were our performers and co-hosts.

About a week before the assembly, our teachers, Mr.Keane and Ms. Ryan told us about this assembly and that we would be performing 2 poems and a song. The 2 poems we were doing are “Oh the Places You’ll Go” and “ Na Ceisteanna”. For our song we sang “ Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley. For the next week we practiced and practiced every single day. The teachers also gave it to us for homework.

On Monday, the day before the assembly, the 2 classes went into the hall. For 20 minutes, we were all cleaning and organising the hall so that when the classes come in there will be enough room for everyone. After organising the hall, we got to practicing. We didn’t get to practice a lot because it was twenty to three and we still had to pack up. In the end, we did get to practice our Dr. Seuss poem.

On Tuesday, the day of our assembly, at around 25 past 10 we went down to the hall so that we talk through the assemblies. At that moment Ms. Ryan told us we would have to do it twice, for the A classes and the B classes. A few minutes later, all of the A classes came in and sat down.

Once all the classes were in, one of the girls in each class gave us a small introduction talking about how today's assembly’s theme is “ Bí Cinealta”. When they were finished, Ms. Ryan turned on our first poem which was “ Oh the Places You’ll Go” by Dr.Suess. When she turned it on we all said the title together and then we said our lines in our pairs.

When we finished our first poem, we got a round of applause and we went up on stage to get ready for our second poem “ Na Ceisteanna”. When we were all in position Ms. Ryan pressed play on our poem and so off we went.

Once we were finished, once again, we got a bigger round of applause and then we stood still while Mrs. Colleran talked about our school and our kind posters. As she talked, everyone all listened and took in all the information about our school. After a while, Mrs. Colleran said her last bit of her speech and said her thank you’s.

When she was done, Ms.Ryan put on our song “ Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley. Once everyone heard the intro of the song the whole room lit up with smiles and laughter. When our time came we all sang together and then Mr. Ryan handed out LED microphones but since she didn't have enough, we all passed back the mics after each verse so it was fair.

When our song finished, we got the biggest round of applause out of the whole assembly. Everyone on stage was smiling and laughing. Then, Mrs.Colleran instructed everyone to line up with our teachers when they told us to. That's what our assembly was all about and how we were all prepared. Thank you for reading.
